Renovation of this historic boutique hotel in downtown Wichita includes unique storefront framing and high-performance low-e coated glass.

Framing: Tubelite T14650 Series Storefront, Custom Painted Finish
Entrances: Tubelite Medium Stile Monumental Doors, Custom Painted Finish
Glass: PPG Industries Solarban 60 (2) Clear + Clear with Argon

The Ambassador Hotel lobby is framed with Tubelite T14650 Series Storefront, which has a 6-1/2-inch frame depth that provides more structure than standard storefront. This allows for taller first floor openings and an appearance that is more like curtain wall framing, with an additional 2-inch depth at the interior.

Dual Medium Stile Monumental Doors are situated beneath an arch. Monumental Doors are designed to withstand use in high-traffic areas. The thick sightlines and heavy-duty hardware create a bold appearance.

The hotel is glazed with Solarban 60, one of PPG’s most popular solar control low-e coated glazings. Solarban 60 strikes a desirable balance between high levels of daylighting and low solar heat gain, evidinced by its 70% visible light transmittance and solar heat gain coefficient of 0.38. When combined with argon gas in a one-inch insulating glass unit, the glazing achieves an efficient U-value of 0.24.
